3 in a row as David wins Loretta Lynn's

A uncharacteristic good start put David in a good position for the beginning of the race. Leading after the first lap, David got hit in the throat on lap 2, causing him to slow his pace as he couldnt breathe properly or swallow. Shane Watts passed him as Knighter recovered. On feeling better, David began the chase after Watts again and passed him back before lengthening his lead on the next few laps.
Crossing the finish line a comfortable minute ahead of second placed Josh Strang, David extended his lead in the championship to 44 points

Knighter wins GNCC opener in Florida !!

The first round of the 2008 GNCC series was held at a new venue, Melbourne in Florida, the going was similar to last years opener being very sandy but there was a surprising amount of tree roots and technical sections as well.

The extra threat from Travis Pastrana failed to materialise and David rode a superb race to finish 5 minutes ahead of his nearest rival.

David, riding the new 2008 spec KTM 450XC, powered his way through the field to take the lead on the 3rd lap and never looked back. Lapping 2 mins faster than his nearest rivals, Knighter has set the standard to beat for the 2008 season!

GNCC series opens in Florida Tues 4th March

David is now acclimatising to the American weather down in Florida for the opening round of the 2008 GNCC series.

The big news from the event is that motocross and freestyle legend Travis Pastrana will be contesting the event.

Travis had this to say: "I am not even half as strong as David Knight in technical terrain, but I grew up spending my winters in the woods of Croom in Florida, and I feel like I can hang with anyone in fast sand whoops through trees.
The opening round is probably the only place on the face of the earth other than on a motocross track that I have a shot in the dark against the behemoth ballerina most call the Knighter!"

Knighter Wins GBXC Rd.1 at Matchams

David heads to the States on Monday, February 25, where he will spend several days testing with his Red Bull KTM team in Florida ahead of the opening round of the ‘08 US GNCC series. In the mean time Knight will continue testing and training at his home in the Isle of Man.

Knighter Continues...

David got 2008 off to a good start by winning the WOR Tough One in dominating style.

Taddy Blasuziak had no answer for Knighter's pace and David took the lead right from the start. The race is called The Tough One for a reason and every rider out there found the going hard. At 5pm, darkness fell over the Nantmawr Quarry and the riders had to fight the darkness as well as the super extreme course. At the end of the race though it was Knighter who crossed the line first, he had extended his lead over Taddy to nearly 9 mins.

Knighter wins Indoor Enduro World Cup round two in Munich

David Knight has put the disappointment of failing to finish this years Red Bull Last Man Standing behind him, having topped the second round of the 07 FIM Indoor Enduro World Cup staged in Munich.

Claiming two wins and a runner-up result at the championships opening event in Barcelona two weeks ago, Knight claimed the exact same result in Munich to take his second IEWC victory and importantly extend his lead in the championship standings. David chooses not to ride Weston Beach race !

With regret Red Bull KTM Off Road Race Team's David Knight announces that he will not be competing in the '07 Weston Beach Race. As winner of the event last year, where he beat 10-time World Motocross Champion Stefan Everts, David was the rider most saw as the clear favourite to win again in '07. But due to his US GNCC racing commitments the two-time Enduro 3 World Champion has decided to withdraw from the event, which takes place just one week ahead of what is a hugely important final round of the GNCC series for the Manxman.

Hoping to have wrapped up the '07 US GNCC championship at the start of October several unexpected yet costly problems have resulted in David experiencing a roller coaster season. With six overall GNCC wins to his credit David currently holds a 21-point lead over his nearest championship rival. A 12th place finish or better at the final round of the championship, which is held the weekend after Weston Beach Race, will see David lift the US GNCC crown. Due to the gruelling and unpredictable nature of Weston Beach Race David has decided not to compete. However, David is extremely hopeful that he will return to the event in '08.

David Knight: "I hope everyone can understand my decision. At the start of the season I set myself one clear goal - to win the '07 US GNCC series. I am 21 points ahead in the championship and one race away from reaching my goal, I just can't afford to take any unnecessary risks. There are a lot of people that have a huge amount of time, effort and money invested in me this season, with all of us having the common goal of winning the US GNCC series. I owe it to my sponsors as much as to myself to look at the bigger picture, which is why I have decided to withdraw from the Weston Beach Race this year. Weston is an event that I love. But also an event that you need to be 100 per cent committed to if you are going to win it. I've been
fortunate to win in the past, had many great times at the event, and am looking forward to competing again."

Knighter wins Ohio GNCC

Dusty win for Knighter in Ohio

Getting stuck in a big mud hole on the first lap cost David a lot of time, despite the help Off-Road Legend - Scott Summers, who helped David dig his KTM out of the wheel deep mud. David decided to settle for a safe second behind race leader Charlie Mullins.

Unknown to Knighter though, Mullins ran out of fuel as he was nearing the pits. This gave David the lead but he didnt realise until he had crossed the finish line and taken the chequered flag.

Mullins' bike didnt make it to the end, its engine seized up. This gave second to Jimmy Jarrett with Barry Hawk third.

David leads the standings by 21 points over Hawk, with one round remaining, the Indiana GNCC on Oct 28th.

Another win for Knighter.

David led the Oklahoma Endurocross from start to finish, making it 2 for 2 in the series. Winning the third round in Vegas on the 17th November will net Knighter a rather nice $50,000 bonus, plus the usual prize money.

The trials bikes were not as much of a threat at this round as the course was larger than that in Denver last week. at around 1min20 per lap Knighter's KTM could really stretch its legs. An early threat from KTM Teammate Dave Pearson was the only trouble David had on his way to the flag. Pearson fell back to third however, with Damon Huffman taking the second step on the podium.

Mixed weekend for Knighter.

After a convincing win at the Denver Endurocross, David, flew overnight to the GNCC Round in North Carolina. A crash on the first corner spoiled his chances of another win.

Messing up his levers and injuring his thumb, David had to battle from last place on the first lap. The tight nature of the course meant that overtaking and making his way through the field was difficult. Eventually finishing in a disappointing 8th place.

Despite this result, David still leads the championship standings from Barry Hawk by 12 points.

Back on the top step of the GNCC podium!

Knighter, rode the perfect race to finish over 4 minutes ahead of second placed Jimmy Jarrett. Covering 8 laps of the Unadilla circuit, David battled with the leaders for lap one before pulling away after the second. David now leads the standings by 20 points from Mullins.

“Yeah this one was good,” said Knight. “On the first lap we were all back and forth, there were so many lines. And then we hit the backmarkers and you would hit one line that really worked out, and then you hit a bad one and a bunch of guys would go past you. You just had to be patient and hope it worked out. The course was good, though.”

With Timo spannering for him, David's bike performed flawlessly for the entire race.

GNCC this weekend and Knighter means business!

David is concentrating hard on this weekends GNCC in Unadilla, New York State and is bringing one of his trusted mechanics from Europe over to spanner for him. With such a slim lead in the championship and so much bad luck this season, David cannot afford to take any risks with his equipment.

From GNCCracing.com:

"I talked to David Knight today, he flew back to the States yesterday and is doing some testing today in New York. Honestly, I think the grind is getting to him a little bit, I think this was the 16 th transatlantic flight for Knighter this year, which is more than most people will do in a life time. Also, he’s trying to fight on so many fronts—trying to win this GNCC title with now no room for error, while also preparing for the Maxxis EnduroCross Series (where he will have to race Saturday night in Denver and then fly overnight to Yadkinville, NC for our next GNCC) and a few beach races mixed in, too. Those are all completely different types of races that require different bikes and different mind sets, not to mention a lot of frequent flyer miles.

Winning all of this stuff used to be easy for Knighter, but today he told me it’s getting harder because riders are starting to specialize—rumor has it that people have built EnduroCross practice tracks and are even developing some wild bikes to attack those races. Meanwhile, he’s trying nail down his main goal, which is to win this GNCC title, and he says going back home and riding and testing on terrain he is familiar with is the best way to do it. "

Disappointment for Knighter in Pennsylvania GNCC

The bad luck that has plagued Knighter's first full GNCC season caught up with him again at the Mountain Ridge GNCC in Pennsylvania.
