EWC GP of Portugal – Super Test

Written by Admin on .

France’s Fabien Planet makes a winning start to the Enduro World Championship GP of Portugal by setting the fastest time in the Friday evening super test...

With the customary KTM super test getting proceedings underway in the Portuguese town of Torres Vedras, Sherco’s Fabien Planet made short work of the tricky night time special test to post the fastest time in Enduro 1 while also topping the overall classification by almost two seconds. Chasing Planet home for second place in Enduro 1 was Bordone Ferrari KTM’s Thomas Oldrati. Making a strong start to the weekend, Husqvarna’s Matti Seistola finished third. Championship leader, KTM’s Antoine Meo ended his night in ninth place, finishing six seconds behind Planet.

Leading the way in Enduro 2, Husqvarna’s Alex Salvini blasted his way to the top spot. Finishing just over one-second adrift of the flying Italian, Spain’s Cristobal Guerrero (KTM) pipped Finland’s Juha Salminen (Husqvarna) for the runner up position. Enduro 2 championship leader, Husaberg’s Pela Renet was eighth.

After a fierce battle with Enduro 3 point’s leader Christophe Nambotin (KTM), Britain’s David Knight finally got the better of his French teammate. Beating Nambotin by one tenth of a second, Knight made the perfect start to the event that marks the halfway point in the championship. With Nambotin second, TM’s Aigar Leok rounded out the top three.

Setting a blisteringly fast pace, Husaberg’s Mathias Bellino already heads the Enduro Junior class by three seconds. Securing the second fastest time was Gas Gas’ Danny McCanney with Rudi Moroni (KTM) in third.

Italy’s Giacomo Redondi (KTM) heads the Enduro Youth Cup while Ludivine Puy (Gas Gas) steered clear of trouble to set the fastest time in the Women’s Cup.
