Mike Brown joins 2011 BSEC series opener

US off-road racer Mike Brown, known by many as the world’s most successful motocross/supercross/off-road racer, will be competing in the opening two rounds of the 2011 Husqvarna ACU British Sprint Enduro Championship taking place in Mid Wales this coming weekend. In the UK to compete in the British Supercross Championship, Brown will add a one-off BSEC outing to his schedule, using the event as training for his participation in the US WORCS series.
Competing aboard a JCS Commercials KTM Mike will line-up alongside the likes of David Knight, Greg Evans, Daryl Bolter, Paul Edmondson, Tom Sagar and Tom Church in the competitive Elite class where he’ll be hoping to show exactly why he’s still one of the States top off-road racers.
Also competing at the opening round of the BSEC series will be Irish motocross ace Stuart Edmonds aboard an Electraction TM. Racing in place of Australian rider Josh Green who arrives in the UK next week, Edmonds joins Tom Church as another top-flight British motocross racer to try his hand at sprint enduro racing.
Spicing things up in the Under 19 class will be Australian Ben Burrell, competing for the Fast Eddy Racing team under the guidance of former multiple enduro world champion Paul Edmondson. Although not well known in the UK, and despite being only 17, Ben is backed by some impressive results back home in Australia, and is keen to show his full potential in what will likely be a one-off BSEC outing.
Mike Brown – JCS Commercials KTM: ‘I first started thinking about doing my first sprint enduro in the UK when I spoke with David Knight at the Geneva Supercross a while back. He told me that it would be a fun event to do so I’m pleased I’ve been able to make it happen. It’ll be tough competing against David and the other top UK enduro guys, but I’m really excited about it. It will be great practice for me ahead of my off-road racing in the States, and cool to try something new. I’m sure the weather won’t be quite as good as it is in California, but I’m looking forward to it.’
Jonty Edmunds – BSEC Events Director: ‘As a rider that’s always keen to try new and exciting events we’re thrilled that Mike will be joining us at the BSEC opener. Be it motocross, supercross, or any kind of off-road racing Mike’s been there and done it so to have him add a sprint enduro to schedule while in the UK is just great. Mike has a huge fan base here in the UK and is without doubt one of the most smooth and stylish riders there is. With Mike competing against the likes of Knighter, Tom Church, and all of the UK’s top enduro racers it’s going to be a great start to the series.’
